Coaches

Coach references and the centrally managed 900 coach stops are no longer required and this data has been withdrawn from NaPTAN.

You can remove coach references from your data if you wish.

What is a coach?

A coach carries multiple passengers on the road and the driver is responsible for loading and unloading passengers' luggage.

They are different mechanical and legal vehicles from buses. We do know that some buses are coaches and visa versa on some routes. These are the exceptions.

A coach cannot have a baby in a pram onboard.

There is a distance limit on bus routes (50km - EU limit). Coaches use Tachometer for driving hours, buses use drivers running tables.
