Social Model of Disability
For A+NaPTAN we are using the social model of disability. This views disability as a result of societal barriers, attitudes, and lack of accessibility, rather than an individual's physical or mental impairments. It emphasises the need to remove these barriers to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
When we describe users we describe the accessibility they need
Passenger personas
In the Private Beta we are using the following personas
- Brenda - mobility impaired passenger with a power wheelchair - she is our core user for our first set of A+NaPTAN

- Gary - visually impaired cane wielding passenger
- Glenda - visually impaired passenger with a guide dog (Bryan)
We will also be working to develop further personas from User Research, including a mobility impaired passenger with a walking stick, and Neurodiverse/Neurospicy personas
With our preliminary research with D/deaf passengers we have identified few accessibility accomodations at bus stops, we will bring
